Savings are as easy as one, two, three
1. First-time home buyer savings
We would like to introduce you to the First-Time Home Buyers’ Tax Credit.
The First Home Savings Account (FHSA) is a government program geared towards buyers like you. The objective is to reduce costs associated with purchasing a home. As a first-time buyer, you are eligible to contribute a maximum of $8,000 a year (2026) for home purchase costs, up to a total of $40,000 per person for buying a house.
You are considered to be a first-time buyer if neither you nor your spouse or common-law partner has owned and lived in another home in the year of the purchase or in any of the four previous years.
2. RRSP Home Buyers’ Plan
You can also take advantage of the RRSP Home Buyers’ Plan. You can withdraw up to $60,000 per person from your RRSP.
3. Land transfer tax savings
You can take advantage of land transfer tax savings for first-time buyers: $4,000 for Ontario and, if you are buying in Toronto, another $4,475.
Combine these savings with a great home price and mortgage rate savings, and we can help you buy your home sooner and/or buy a bigger home for your money. As we said, every dollar counts.
